We liked the first version of Ragefac.es a lot, but the design brought a few problems with it: We would like to add more faces, but this clutters the site. It wasn’t that easy to find the Face you’re searching as it was, when we started. We already sorted the Faces by views, but this whole thing could be optimized. We …

• added filters
• improved the search
• worked on categories to put the faces in
• gave the tags some more thinking
• realigned the whole design. (Say hello to the official ragefac.es-red #ff4455) 
• made a few changes on the layout of the faces-list
• added some social-stuff. (Some of you wanted to flattr us very bad)
• ajax all the way.
• developed an API

We think these measures should help. Let’s see, if we were right. We need your feedback here.

One of the biggest features we added is the User-Management. Since Version 2 you’re now able to claim a username. As a registered user you can use the little heart-icon on the faces to add this face to your favorites. Favorite Faces get put on top of the face-list. So - you have a face that you use more often than the others? Fave it and find it more easily next time.

We plan to add more features for registered users in the future. 

Another new thing is the API, which is yet to be released. Details on the API will follow in another blog-post.

So. This decision was one of the easier ones: There will be no Copy-to-Clipboard with a Flash-Handler at Ragefac.es. We tried. We raged. There is no (for the user) comfortable way to integrate this functionality. 

Our prefered way to handle this functionality looked a bit like that: A tiny flash-file sits somewhere in the footer waiting for a javascript event, which gives the flash-file some data (in this case an URL) to put in the users clipboard. Next the flash-file would fire some feedback, that it’s job was done and everything is allright. 

We liked this because it’s unobtrusive and simple. 1 quiet flash-file. Nobody likes Flash but we could live with this. 

But: This isn’t possible anymore. Since Flash V.10 it’s no longer possible to copy something to the clipboard without having a real click.event from the user first. Understandable. Security and stuff.

The workaround would’ve looked like this: Over 150 — by some third-party plugin — hard-positioned flash-files all over the place.
